Joao Comazzi
Tucanaçai

5 track EP produced by Berlin based Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Joao Comazzi is an authentic and innovative project, bringing elements of the fusion between East and West, through Afro-Brazilian rhythms and oriental melodies. “Tucanaçai” features collaborations with legendary bassist Bororó, acclaimed percussionist Gilú Amaral diving into Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and the grounding presence of Cacique Tsa’amri, leader of the Xavante People. These influences incorporate traditional and ethnic sounds into João’s current context. The inspiration for this album stems from a vivid image: a toucan perched on an açaí palm in the garden of João's home in Brazil, planted more than 15 years ago with the intention of attracting the exotic birds of the Cerrado. Throughout the development of his projects, music and the visual arts have always evolved hand in hand, exploring both analog and digital tools. As such, the cover photography reflects the EP's musical process, capturing a journey from its ancient roots to its contemporary form.
